Paul Kuttner Pioneer Award
Odilia MacDonald, Audiologist, was presented with the prestigious Paul Kuttner Pioneer Award by the Canadian Academy of Audiology in September 2016. This award is presented to a pioneer in audiology who has “boldy gone where no one has before” and been the “first” to embark on a new program or procedure which has impacted audiology service delivery in Canada.
Odilia was recognized for all her work in making the Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA) a reality. The CAA is a professional association dedicated to enhancing the role of audiology through advocacy, education and research.
Odilia was also instrumental in the development of Sounds+, an Atlantic organization for Audiologists. Sounds+ wants every Canadian to take their hearing health seriously and make an annual visit to the Audiologist a part of their health and wellness routine. Prevention and early intervention, when required, is part of healthy hearing.
Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist – 25 Years
Janet Gallivan, BC-HIS, was recently recognized by the International Hearing Aid Society on being a Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist for 25 years. Janet was the first Hearing Instrument Specialist in Cape Breton to receive her Board Certification. 2016 also marks Janet’s 25th year with Marco Hearing Health Centre and her 35th year as a Hearing Instrument Specialist. Janet’s skills in counseling during the rehabilitative process are also well recognized by her clients.

Centre of Excellence in Patient Care
In 2015, Marco Hearing Health Centre was recognized as a Centre of Excellence in Patient Care by Widex Canada. Widex is a family owned company founded in Denmark in 1956. Today, it is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of hearing aids. They were one of 6 clinics selected for that acknowledgement.
Marco’s Team is thrilled to have been recognized specifically for excellence in patient care. On a daily basis, they endeavor to deliver the best in hearing health care while making the in office experience one to remember.
Woman in Business Pinnacle Award
In October of 2015, Business Cape Breton awarded Odilia with the ‘Woman in Business Pinnacle Award‘. This award is presented to female entrepreneurs in Cape Breton who are role models of successful business practices They have proven to be innovative and motivated professionals who are a credit to the business community and highly regarded by peers, colleagues and customers.
